Group visits to HAT

The History of Advertising Trust is located at the Raveningham Centre, a range of Victorian farm buildings that have undergone sympathetic conversion into commercial units.  Visitors are welcome to browse through the various outlets which offer, for example, antiques, rugs, arts, gifts and crafts.

We greatly welcome group visits to the History of Advertising Trust where we offer a tailored interest, behind the scenes, archive tour with our knowledgeable archive staff in addition to an illustrated talk.  

Your group will enjoy a unique insight into the history of advertising and the stories behind the nation’s favourite brand names.

HAT is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

Please Note:

Admission charge: £12.00 inc VAT per person 
Minimum booking fee:  £120.00 inc VAT
Payment of 50% of total fee required at time of booking confirmation.  50% balance payment on the day of your visit.

Maximum number in group - 20

Bookings must be made at least four weeks prior to intended date of visit

Visits to the archive last approximately two hours.  

Groups can arrange visits (AM)  10:30 – 12:30 or (PM) 2:00 – 4:00pm


The Ravenous Cafe located at the Raveningham Centre serves refreshments and light lunches.

The cafe is open Wednesday to Sunday 10am-4pm.

Groups are advised to pre-order via HAT.

Individual study visits to HAT

Located at Raveningham, Norfolk, HAT archive attracts visitors from all over the world. HAT is one of the most fascinating and important specialist archives in the UK and we provide a vast and unique study resource that is available to all. With our library of over 10,000 books, directories, journals themed compilations and press cuttings, the collections cover every aspect of UK advertising, brand communications, marketing and media.

HAT welcomes individuals who may wish to arrange a free visit to access and study our collections.

Please contact us using the form below with your name, the name of your learning organisation (if applicable), the subject of your study and, if known, the material you would like to see. Alternatively, please telephone us on 01508 548623 to make your appointment (HAT is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm). This should be arranged at least one week ahead of your intended visit as search room availability can be limited. You can also fill in the form below to book a visit.

HAT staff will be happy to discuss the appropriate archive resources available to assist your project and offer advice as required. There is also an outline of HAT's collections available on this website.

Once you are here our helpful and knowledgeable staff will do their best to provide you with relevant material in the quiet environment of our library and search room. They will also be on hand to support your research interests and assist in any way they can throughout your visit to HAT.
