HAT is very pleased to welcome Gabriele Rammairone who is starting a six month internship in the archive.
Gabriele is a student at the University of Pisa, Italy and has just completed a degree in history. He has come to the UK as part of the Erasmus Programme (European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students). The purpose of the programme is to provide foreign exchange options for students from within the European Union. With the help of the programme Gabriele will join HAT from September 2017 until February 2018.
Gabriele was keen to come to the UK to gain experience in the heritage sector and improve his already excellent knowledge of English. He chose HAT because of his interest in advertising heritage, his final year thesis having focussed on an analysis of 1960s American advertising.
Under the supervision of the archive staff, Gabriele will be working on HAT’s press advertising collections. This will initially involve the arranging and sorting the Middlesex University Collection (HAT20/2) containing over 8,000 advertising tear sheets (1880s-1970s). Once sorting has been completed the ads will be catalogued and digitised. The culmination of the project will be a significant increase in online access to HAT’s Press advertisement holdings.
