In that time much has changed. Our name for instance. When we started in 1976 we were called London Television Advertising Awards. But by 2011 you were as likely to be watching award-winning film on a mobile, laptop or tablet, as you were your TV set, so we changed to the British Arrows.
In the old days we were all about TV and Cinema commercials. Today the show has long form content, on line films and integrated campaigns at its very heart.
While a good deal about the awards has changed, some things haven’t. We still celebrate the biggest and best ideas. Real work, for real clients, that real people have seen and loved.
We still attract the best judges, with our leading creatives, producers and directors joining forces with the most innovative clients around, to form a jury whose opinions people respect.
And, after they’ve sweated blood and tears in the judging room, we still throw the best party, with the great and the good from British ad land turning out en masse for our big night in March.
Because we’re the champions of great film, we also have the British Arrows Craft awards in November. A night where the oft-unsung heroes of the production industry are lauded and lionized.
The ad industry is changing minute-by-minute, day-by-day. It’s what makes it such an exciting place to be. But ultimately, great ideas and great film will never go out of fashion. And neither will the British Arrows.
