David Clampin
Development Executive
When did you join HAT?
September 2024.
What do you do there?
My title is Development Executive, and my role is to turn my evangelical zeal for the socio-cultural, historical importance of commercial advertising on those beyond the archive. My drive is to make the HAT collections widely accessible, turned towards education, and enabling all to relive the past through this world-leading collection.

What did you want to be when you were younger?
A cartoonist or graphic designer. That plan unravelled when a kindly art teacher explained that whilst I could make a passing job of copying pictures, that would not cut the mustard.
What is your favourite ad?
Gallaher's Silk Cut, 1984.
Tell us something we don’t know about you?
I am a keen knitter but of nothing wearable nor useful.
