In 1936 Billy Butlin opened his first holiday camp at Skegness and changed the face of British holidays. Our story is something we are proud of. That’s why we’ve partnered with the History of Advertising Trust, who allow us to make sure our history and heritage is protected and preserved for the delight of future generations.

The Butlin’s Heritage Collection is made up of a diverse range of artefacts including Redcoat uniforms, over 3,000 pin badges, and resort souvenirs dating back to the 1930s. Our archival material encompasses postcards featuring our nine camps, early amusement parks and hotels, photographs from as early as the 1900s, and advertising brochures and entertainment programmes charting our development over the years.

Together with HAT, we are working to conserve, catalogue and digitise our collection. The imagery and artefacts we rediscover from our past will be used to inspire our future, and we’ll be sharing these stories with you as we go.

Look out for updates about our archive on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and our Blog.
