Believed to be the oldest UK agency, it was founded around 1800 by James 'Jem' White. He was a friend of the writer Charles Lamb who also worked for the agency writing Lottery 'puffs'. The agency became a limited company in 1929 and in 1958 affiliated with A. A. Black Ltd. The name changed to White's Recruitment in 1971 and in 1983 was amalgamated to form White, Bull, Holmes Ltd.

Scope: Historic collection with a wide range of material including an 1812 cash book, later account books, family records, apprenticeship indentures, correspondence from George Bernard Shaw, 'specimen advertisements', photographs of agency, office, personnel papers etc.
