Incorporating the Dorland and the Bates Dorland archives
History
1883- present, Atlantic City (US), London
The history of Bates Dorland goes back to 1883 when John M Dorland founded the Dorland Agency in Atlantic City, USA. The London office was established in 1905 and by the 1930s it was a top five agency. In 1963 it became a public company. In 1964 London Press Exchange (LPE) was brought into the Poster Services Group, jointly owned by Dorland and Crawfords who merged in 1967. The company was then taken over by Garrott Associates in 1970 and merged with Hobson Bates. It later became part of the Cordiant Group, which in turn was taken over by WPP in 2003. In 2003 it was re-launched as "a stand alone Asian agency brand".
