1968 - , London
1963: DDB (Doyle Dane Bernach), long-established US advertising agency, opened London office
1968: BMP (Boase Massimi Pollitt) founded in London as a breakaway group from the
London agency Pritchard Wood & Partners (part of Interpublic)
1983: BMP floated on London Stock Exchange
1989: BMP bought by Omnicom’s DDB Worldwide Communications Group becoming
known as BMP DDB
2004: BMP part of name dropped, becoming DDB London (UK)
2012: Adam&EveDDB is created from the merger of DDB London with the expanding independent Adam&Eve.

From 1971 BMP became well-known for political advertising, running campaigns for the TUC, the Labour Party and Labour councils. In 1989 BMP was merged into DDB Needham Worldwide to form BMP DDB Needham, part of the Omnicom Group.

John Webster (1934-2006) was the creative director at BMP responsible for many of its famous award winning campaigns such as Cadbury's Smash (1974) and Courage (1979 & 1981).

Scope

The collection includes BMP material from pre and post DDB merger days from the late 1960s to the late 1980s. There is a unique collection of John Webster’s working files for campaigns 1986-2005. These include research, planning, creative briefings, original notes, rough sketches, storyboards, artwork, briefings, final TV scripts, sound recordings and photographs.
