Before They Were Famous
Before They Were Famous is a terrific project that shows the early work of some of the most renowned creatives in the advertising world, from Trevor Beattie, Mark Denton and Don Draper (no, really).
Site creators
Lorelei Mathias and Nathalie Turton (Senior Creatives,
BMB) explain the project:
It’s a peek into the student portfolios of the world’s most successful creatives.
Everyone Starts Somewhere
It’s true. Noel Fielding once wrote an ad for Jaffa Cakes that read ‘Kiss My Eyes.’
We’re here to show off the good, the funny and the just-plain-dark work that people had in their books when they graduated. To show that even the big boys and girls of advertising were learners once.
It is a site that you can’t help but spend time looking through. The material on display here is an amazing insight into the early workings of these creative minds and shows a breadth of content that is fascinating and compelling.
It offers real inspiration to students by showing that even the great and the good started somewhere and that anything is possible.
"My earliest efforts were truly shocking. If nothing else it would serve to prove that if I can do it, anyone can”
Nick Kidney, Creative Director,
BBH
Some of the many highlights include:
•
‘The Space Race’ by a 12 ½ year old Trevor Beattie
•
Sketches from Dave Buonaguidi of Crusaders, a Grenadier and Edward VII from 1971/72
•
Jaffa Cake ad from Noel Fielding – ‘Kiss My Eyes’
If you are a creative and have early work you would like to submit for inclusion on the site you can find details on how to do this here:
