Admin History: The Ponds company (founded in 1846 in the U.S.A.) was merged in 1955 with the Chesebrough Mtg. Co. Ltd to form Chesebrough-Ponds. The Chesebrough business was founded by Robert A. Chesebrough who registed the Vaseline name in 1877. The English Company of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly was started in 1875 and in 1920 the Chesebrough Manufacturing Co. Cons. was formed in the U.S.A. The British arm of the business known as Chesebrough Manufacturing Co. Ltd was established in 1940.
JWT London acquired the Chesebrough account in November 1926.
