"The mill in earlier form has existed on the site since c1042 and was valued at 15 shillings for tax purposes in the Domesday book. Its current incarnation is from c1890 when it was rebuilt, the cob walls being removed and replaced with red brickwork.
1925 Mill bought by a Mr Parsons
1957 Mr Parsons sold the Mill, excluding the water rights, to Heygate & Sons Ltd who had farmed in Northamptonshire since 1562 and started milling in the nineteenth century
1972 Mill closed but continued to be used to store flour, bran and animal feed. The mill workings were removed to restore another mill in Northamptonshire
1975 Although of fairly recent construction, the Mill was listed Grade II because of its sluice gates
The mill is currently derelict A sixteen page book by Elizabeth Edwards recounts the history of the mill and its last miller"
From Holdenhurst village turn right on to Throop Road. The mill is on the right hand side. There is a car park a few yards beyond.
