Admin History: Pepsodent toothpaste was launched in the U.S. in 1915 and the business was registered in England in July 1919 as a branch company of the Pepsodent Company, Chicago. In January 1935 a new company, Pepsodent Limited, was registered and in 1944 the controlling interest in the Pepsodent Company of America was acquired by the Lever Brothers Company of America and the British Pepsodent business therefore came into the Unilever group. The company produced the well-known brand of Pepsodent toothpaste and home perm kits ('Pin-Up' perms). The company was referred to by JWT London within their records as Pepsodent Ltd and this is therefore how it has been arranged in the client account files sequence (1939-1958).
